Alice's Adventures in wonderland

Author: Lewis Carroll
Illustrator: John Tenniet
Genre: Children's fiction

Plot: Episode
Character: Alice and all of the characters that Alice met during her trip in wonderland

Reflection:

Almost every children read the fairy tale named Alice's adventures in wonderland when they were just 6 or 7 years old and so do I. When I was a little girl, I read Alice. I was falling in love with Alice at that time. In that time I love Alice not only because I love the clothes that Alice wears but also the story. I wanted to become another Alice. So, I raised a little rabbit and hoped one day he can take me to adventure in wonderland. Now I am a 19 years old girl. When  I read this book again, I have different feelings. In the beginning, Alice was sitting by her sister on the bank. Then she saw a rabbit and she felt curious so she chased by the rabbit. Then Alice fell down in the hole. When she stopped falling, she saw a bottle labelled "drink me" .Then she drank it and shrank. Then she eat a cake labelled "eat me ". Then she ate it and became big. Alice became very big so she was unhappy. Then, she cried so her tears became a river. She swam in her tears and met the mouse. Time flies by, more and more animals were swept away by the rising water so they decided to tell a dry joke in order to let the water dry. The white rabbit appeared again in search of the Duchess's gloves and fan. After that,  Alice met a blue Caterpillar smoking a hookah. This caterpillar told Alice that one side of the mushroom will make her taller and the other side will make her shorter.  A Fish-Footman had an invitation for the Duchess of the house, which he delivered to a Frog-Footman. Alice became a guest at a "mad" tea party along with the March Hare, the Hatter.Alice left the tea party and entered the garden, where she came upon three living playing cards painting the white roses on a rose tree red because The Queen of Hearts hated white roses. Then, the Queen of Hearts dismissed her with the threat of execution and she introduced Alice to the GryphonThe Mock Turtle and the Gryphon danced to the Lobster Quadrille, while Alice recited"'Tis the Voice of the Lobster". Alice attends a trial in which the Knave of Hearts was accused of stealing the Queen's tarts. Then, Alice was called up as a witness. She accidentally knocked over the jury box with the animals inside, and the King ordered the animals to be placed back into their seats before the trial continues. The Queen shouted her familiar "Off with her head!" but Alice was unafraid, calling them out as just a pack of cards, just as they start to swarm over her. Alice's sister waked her up from a dream, brushing what turned out to be some leaves, and not a shower of playing cards, from Alice's face. Alice left her sister on the bank to imagine all the curious happenings for herself. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland inspired me with its fascinating, persuasive and authoritative in tone. The beauty of this story is that it allows us to have a lot of imagination about it. Many best-sellers does not have such a strong influence on me as it. I must recommend it as one of my favorites. It opens up my mind to discover the concept of Wonderland and know why it is the so-called "fantasy work." With 100 percent sure, this book is definitely will be read again and again in order to enrich my vision about Wonderland and create my own Wonderland.

Characters: Swimmy and all the little red fish
Setting: backdrop
Plot: Dramatic Plot

Reflection:
They were many fish living in a corner of sea. All of the fish were red but only a black fish. This distinctive fish named  Swimmy. One day a giant tuna came out so all of the little fish felt scared. They wanted to swim out of the giant tuna in order not to be eaten. But, those little fish can't swim as fast as they thought. So, Swimmy thought an idea which was making all of fish swimming together in order to cheat giant tuna that they were big fish. This idea worked. In the end, the giant tuna scared by those little fish. After reading this story, I learn a very important thing which is very useful in our life. Although the power of one person is weak but if we get many people together we have enough power to solve the problems. Just like this story, those fishes are little and powerless but once they get together, they become powerful. In our society, many people are afraid of being different because people will focus on them. This story also tell readers that we should not be afraid of being distinctive. We should not too care about what other people think. Once you are not afraid of being different, You will see the new things with differnt kinds of viewpoint that you never saw before.

Reflection:
Mr. Piggott has two sons, Simon and Patrick. Every morning, they always said "Hurry up with the breakfast." to Mrs. Piggott. After they finished their breakfast, Mrs.Piggott washed all the dishes, made all the beds, vacuumed all the carpets and then went to work. Every evening, Mr. Piggott and his two sons always say " Hurry up with the meal" to Mrs. Piggott. As soon as they had eaten , Mrs. Piggott.washed the dishes, washed the clothes, did the iron and then cooked some more.  Mr. Piggott and his two sons Simon and Patrick are all sit and lied on the sofa watching TV. They were lazy like the pigs. One day, when Mr. Piggott and his  two sons got home from school and work, they found out that Mrs. Piggott disappeared. They only found one envelope on the mantelpiece. Inside was a piece of paper. It said " You are pigs". Mr. Piggott and his  two sons had to make their own meal and make their breakfast in the next morning. They were horrible. Mrs. Piggott still didn't come home so Mr. Piggott and his  two sons had try to take care of themselves. They never washed the dishes and washed their clothes. Soon the house was like a pigsty. One night, there was nothing in the house for them to cook. Mr. Piggott and his  two sons started finding some scrapes on the floor to eat. Then, Mrs. Piggott  came back. Mr. Piggott and his  two sons were grateful when Mrs. Piggott came home. So, Mr. Piggott and his  two sons washed the dishes, made the beds and did the ironing. They helped Mrs. Piggott to cook. Eventually, Mrs. Piggott felt very happy so she fixed the car. After reading this book, I feel very ironic because Mrs. Piggott does many things for Mr. Piggott and his  two sons, they just think those are the things that Mrs. Piggott should does without the appreciated hearts. When, Mrs. Piggott didn't come back, they understand the importance of Mrs. Piggott. I think that the moral of this story is that mom is very hardy and we should keep a appreciated heart to her.

Author: Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury
Genre: Picture Book
Character: A family and a bear
Setting: Integral Setting
Plot: Progressive Plot (When the bear shows up is the climax of this story)
Tone:  Verbal play

Reflection:
We're going on a bear hunt. We're going to catch a big one. What a beautiful day. We're not scared. Those sentences are constantly showing up again and again in order to make children remember those sentences. So, children can not only learn more quickly but also can attract their attention. When the family go through the long wavy grass, they make the Swishy Swashy sounds. When the family go through the deep cold river, they make the Splash Splosh sounds. When the family go through the thick oozy mud, they make the Squelch Squerch sounds. When the family go through a big dark forest, they make the Stumble Trip sounds. When the family go through a swirling whirling snowstorm, they make the Hoooo Woooo sounds. When the family go through a narrow gloomy cave, they make the Tiptoe sounds. Those sounds gradually attract more and more children's attention. When the family become closer and closer to the bear, the climax shows up. Their is a bear with one shiny wet nose, two big furry ears and two big goggly eyes. Then, the family back through the cave, back through the snowstorm, back through the forest, back through the mud, back through the river and back through the grass. The author writes those sentences in just two pages in order to make the nervous environment and the quick speeds. In the end, the family finally back to their home. They open the door, shut the door, and into bed. They say " We're not going on a bear hunt again". After reading this story, I think that this story is a very worth for children to read. This story gradually attract more and more attention by using their sentences and pictures. When I read this story, I feel that I was one of the family member in this story. I can feel that I go through the cave, the snowstorm, the forest, the mud, the river and the grass. When the bear shows up, I completely feel the intensive environment. This books use some skills to grab the reader's attention. First, this book use the same sentences to make readers can read by the teller. Second, this book use many sounds like Swishy Swashy and Squelch Squerch.

Reflection:
In the beginning of the story, mummy pig talk to three little pigs that they have to go to look for their new home so that the big bad wolf can't get you. So, three little pigs go to look for a new home. First, three little pigs see one man who has some straw. One little pig asks the man to give him some straw. Then, this little pig builds the house of straw. Second, two little pigs see one man has some sticks. One little pig asks the man to give him some sticks. Then, this little pig builds the house of sticks. Eventually, one little pig sees one man with some bricks. One little pig asks the ma to give him some bricks. Then, this little pig builds the house of bricks. The antagonist of this story is coming - the big bad wolf. The big bad wolf comes to the house of straw. He huffs and puffs so the house falls down. The wolf eat up the little pig. Then, the big bad wolf comes to the house of sticks. He huffs and puffs so the house falls down. The wolf eat up the little pig. Eventually, the big bad wolf comes to the house of bricks. He huffs and puffs but the house doesn't fall down. The wolf feels pleased so he gets up on the roof in order to eat the little pig. The little pig is making soup. When the wolf jumps down, he splashes into the hot soup. Like most of the fairy tale, the end of the story always has the happy ending. This story also has happy ending too. After reading this story, I think the moral of the story is pretty obvious. When building your future be wise and take your time to build it up right. A good solid foundation and well structured plan can help in times of storm to prevent financial difficulties. Such as a good saving plan, reliable investments and so on. I think hard work and enterprise triumphs over evil forces and misfortune.
